The extraordinary discovery of the Ma Wang Dui Han tomb reveals the sophisticated life style of noble woman Marquise Dai who lived in 180 B.C. Artifacts uncovered from the site revealed elaborate design patterns as well as state of the art craftsmanship. This tile series was designed incorporating the cloud motif found in textile fragments from the tomb, and combines pattern variations, line treatments and color matching principles from the same period of Chinese history.
Original artworks were first hand painted on the tiles for the finest printing results (C2, C4 series); while others applied computer graphics in order to preserve the symmetry which represents delicate line treatments of traditional Chinese calligraphy and paper cutting techniques (L series).
